应用文是高考英语阅读理解的常见文体。高考试卷的应用文阅读材料大都来自真实生活,充满浓郁的时代气息,具有鲜明的语言特色。它们种类繁多、涵盖面广,包括广告、书信、海报、指南、产品介绍、启示、招生招聘、书评、图示及说明等。以高考英语全国新课标卷为例,2013年考的是一篇英国国家美术馆的参观指南;2014年是一篇通知,通告的是第六届全国Curiosity Challenge挑战赛的具体事宜;2015年则为一则海报,介绍了在London Canal Museum即将举行的Monthly Talks的时间安排和讲座内容安排。
