The wind erosion intensity and its inhibition factor on the southern edge of the Gurbantunggut Desert with an area of about 0.15km2 were sampled and tested, and the obtained data were analyzed by semi-variance using geostatistics. The results show that the measured data of wind erosion intensity and its inhibition factors (vegetation coverage and soil water content) in this research area all follow the normal distribution. The theoretical model of vegetation cover variability curve accords with exponential model, while the soil moisture content and soil The theoretical model of the variogram curve of wind erosion intensity conforms to the spherical model. Through the analysis of monitoring data in May 2009, it is concluded that there is a significant spatial variability in vegetation cover, soil moisture and soil erosion intensity index in the experimental area, and there is a strong negative correlation between soil erosion intensity and its inhibition factor The correlations, that is, the soil erosion intensity index tends to decrease (or increase) with the vegetation cover and soil water content increase (or decrease), so the soil erosion intensity has more influence on vegetation coverage and soil water content Strong spatial dependence. Within the small scale with little difference in wind space, the intensity of wind erosion in arid areas mainly depends on the vegetation coverage and the soil water content. Vegetation coverage and soil moisture are the main factors that inhibit soil erosion and are the dominant factor in maintaining the stability of the sand surface at the southern margin of the Gurbantunggut Desert.
