词牌是填词时所用的曲调的名称,它规定了某一首词的字数、句数、平仄和韵脚。词的曲调大约有一千多种,因此,词牌的名称很多,仅中学语文课本中出现的就有几十个。其由来大致有以下几种情况。一、原本就是词的题目例如《浪淘沙》吟咏的是淘金工人的劳动生活,《踏歌词》是一种合着脚步歌唱的曲调,《抛球乐》说的是抛绣球等。又如《忆江南》原本就是抒写回忆江南之情的词,《渔歌子》本来就是吟唱渔夫生活的词。它们后来都成了词牌名。二、本来是乐曲的名称例如,汉代乐府有《采桑曲》,唐代教坊有《采桑》,于是后来有了《采桑子》的词牌。
