由中国市长协会和中国乒协共同主办的全国“市长杯”乒乓球赛5月25日到27日在天津大港举行,来自北京、天津、重庆、珠海、合肥、徐州等37个地级以上城市的111个领导干部参加了比赛。 国家体育总局副局长李富荣称赞此次比赛是充分整合社会各界力量共同发展中国社会体育的一个创举。通过比赛,领导干部们走进赛场亲自挥拍,不仅身体力行,成为推进全民健身活动的表率,更是对北京申办2008年奥运会的有力支持。
The National “Mayor Cup” table tennis tournament co-sponsored by China Association of Mayors and China Table Tennis Association was held in Dagang, Tianjin from May 25 to 27 and was attended by 37 prefectural and above prefectures including Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Zhuhai, Hefei and Xuzhou The city’s 111 leading cadres participated in the competition. Li Furong, deputy director of the State Sports General Administration, praised the contest as an initiative to fully integrate forces from all walks of life to jointly develop Chinese social sports. Through competitions, leading cadres went into the arena and swung their hands in person. Not only did they become the example of promoting fitness for the whole nation, but also strong support for Beijing’s bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games.
