自湖北省棉花企业从1996年开始出现行业性亏损以来,不少供销社棉花企业面对激烈的市场竞争,举步维艰,难以为继。然而,潜江市棉花总公司在农发行潜江市分行的鼎力支持下,通过改革改制、强化管理、拓展市场,实现了从“老大难”到“龙头”的跨越,呈现出“人气旺、企业兴、购销忙、效益高”的良好势头。至2002年,公司连续三年实现了棉花库存和贷款“双结零”,创利税3600余万元,成为湖北省棉花系统第一家“无亏损、无挤占、无欠税、无欠息”企业,被农发行湖北省分行评为 AAA 级信用企业。
