Russian master sinologist MB M Alexeyev translates and studies “Strange Tales of Liaozhai” in the Soviet era for his new “artistic need”: (1) to introduce to Russia and the Soviet people his mind (2) to adapt to the history and culture of the Russian nation and aesthetic psychology to meet the needs of the Russian people’s cultural needs; (3) conform to the 19-20 century Russian cultural intellectuals (4) Pu Songling, an ancient Chinese writer who has commonalities in life experience and social ideals, communicates with each other and needs to express inner feelings and sympathy. The spiritual communication between Alexeyev and Pu Songling is his motivation to devote his energies to studying Strange Stories from a Lover Studio and his mystery of great success.
