景德四年,宋真宗在拜谒皇陵的来回途中,曾在郑州休憩。大中祥符四年,在西祀汾阴的来回途中,他同样在郑州短暂停留。在这四次驻跸期间,除了处理政务,宋真宗还宴请郑州父老,遣使祭祀后周皇陵,游幸开元寺,召见隐士杨朴,观赏仆射陂美景,临幸灵显王庙。宋真宗所作的《驻跸郑州》诗,历来为郑州人所津津乐道。宋真宗御制的《灵显王庙赞》碑,至今仍伫立在郑州街头。
