The authors found in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh, that pre-senile cataracts are associated with severe heat stroke and diarrhea. About 40% of pre-senile cataract patients can be caused by severe dehydration. If this conclusion can be more widely confirmed, the main cause of the largest blinding disease will be found. The author also conducted a survey in Detraka, Orissa, which is obviously different in ethnic, socio-economic, cultural and environmental factors. Within 24 days, 1644 medical examiners (30-69 years old) were examined free of charge and questioned. Of these, 1364 (39-59 years old) are the object of this report.
