好种出好苗,好苗产量高。这话概括了我国劳动人民对优良品种的认识。在农业生产实践中,良种是一项重要的增产措施。玉米引种到我国400多年来,在相当长的时期内,基本上是通过栽培实践进行选择的,以适应自然生态条件,培育出丰富多采的品种。直至近代科学技术兴起,特别是在新中国成立以后,玉米的品种改良和新品种选育工作才有了迅速发展,并显著地提高了玉米产量。
