在新疆准噶尔盆地的茫茫戈壁中,有个名叫卡拉麦里的地方,是我国最大的有蹄类野生动物自然保护区。方圆1.7万多平方公里的保护区内,最醒目的建筑是一间白房子,那是亚洲第一、世界第二大规模的“普氏野马”繁殖中心的研究实验室。张赫凡是在实验室里工作的唯一女性,她已经在那里坚守了12年,从当初青涩单纯的大学生,变成了坚忍不拔的女工程师,被人们亲切地称为“野马女孩”。当初,张赫凡为何选择了茫茫戈壁?又是什么原因让她一直坚守在卡拉麦里?
