In the story of the Zoo by Edward Albi, “zoo” appears frequently but obscurely. The protagonist Jerry and Peter both infiltrate their linguistic behaviors and social relations with animal factors. The alienation theory used by many commentators gives the answer from the physical level. According to the existentialist view, this image reflects the anxiety on the level of human consciousness in the post-evolutionary era - the dehumanization of gods, the decline of human nature, and the doubts and denials of human values. “Zoo ” refers to the degraded human society. From the perspective of thematic studies, similar images have also appeared in many American plays successively, passing on and expressing humanistic concerns about common anxiety of human beings and reflection on the predicaments of modern people.
