In the southern foot of Lushan in Jiangxi Province, Poyang Lake stands a thriving “Gongqingcheng.” Here the road is straight and the trees are swirling. The modern factory buildings are rising up. The park with beautiful flowers attracts many people. The shrill schools are full of vitality. There are many shops, banks and post offices. Nearby farmers affectionately call this “Little Shanghai.” Who can think of, more than 40 years ago, here is a thorny barren mountain shoal. The rise of “Gongqingcheng” is closely linked with Hu Yaobang’s name. During his lifetime, he came here twice to see the new and old reclamation team members, three times for the Communist Youth inscription, pouring his concern for the cause of the Communist Youth League, support and encouragement. After his death, the ashes were also buried here, rest forever in the green mountains and green forests of Gongqingcheng.
