“大学生志愿服务西部计划”由共青团中央、教育部、财政部、人事部共同组织实施。2003年8月底,在“到西部去、到基层去、到祖国和人民最需要的地方去”的嘹亮歌声中,首批参加西部计划的上万名高校毕业生辞别亲朋,陆续踏上西部沃土。在西部的日子里,在乡村学校,在基层卫生院。在田间地头,在困难群众家中,都留下了大学生志愿者无私奉献、锻炼成长的足迹。服务之余,他们还以日记的形式记录了自己的思想体会、人生感悟。这些日记展现了当代大学生朝气蓬勃、积极向上的精神面貌,体现了大学生志愿者强烈的社会责任感和脚踏实地、艰苦奋斗的工作态度,读来令人感动和鼓舞。
