宋代伟大的文学家苏东坡称颂唐代文化成就时,曾经概括地说到:“知者创物,能者述焉,非一人而成也,君子之于学,百工之于技,自三代历汉至唐而备矣。故诗至于杜子美,文至于韩退之,书至于颜鲁公。画至于吴道子,而古今之变,天下之能事毕矣”。在这里他把吴道子和杜甫、韩愈、颜真卿一道,看成是唐代文化艺术方面的代表人物。并且认为他们非一人
Su Songpo, a great writer of the Song Dynasty praised the cultural achievements of the Tang Dynasty when he said in a nutshell: "The intellectuals create something that can be described by both non-human and non-human. Han to the Tang and ready to carry on. Therefore, the poem as Duzi Mei, the text as far back as South Korea, the book as Yan Lu public. As Wu Daozi, and the ancient and modern changes, the world can accomplish nothing. Here he sees Wu Daozi and Du Fu, Han Yu and Yan Zhenqing as representatives of the cultural and artistic aspects of the Tang Dynasty. And think they are not alone
