“觇其监狱之实况,可测其国度之文野。”清末西方列强即挟此作为久不弃领事裁判权之借口,故中国有识之士走出国门探求西政伊始,便于万般端绪中关注狱制。在此大时代背景下,20世纪初兴起了日本监狱学书籍的译介热。本文从清末监狱学译书目、20世纪初日本监狱学在中国兴起的原因、作者小河滋次郎、译者董康和区天相、书籍传播等五个方面论述清末日本监狱学书籍的译介活动。
