太倉第二初級中学(原爲太倉縣中学,一九五四年八月起改今名)学生徐耀宗,是初二甲的副班長,又是学生会執委。很多教師說他学習好,能力强,叫他領導班級。可是,偏偏就是这個“好学生”在今年二月被学校予以退学处分了。徐耀宗家住本縣沙溪,那裏是個商業集鎮,解放前,烟寮、賭塲、戲院、旅舘应有尽有,流氓地痞也很多。徐耀宗有一母兩父,养父在沙溪鎮上開了一個小飯舖,这就使他和地痞、流氓有較多的接觸机会。因而地痞,流氓的生活方式从小就影响着他。但更嚴重的是他的生父生伯(他母親的姘夫)給他的影响,他从小就常跟这個流氓跑賭場、上茶舘、盹煙寮,直到现在,他还很羡慕那時的生活,並常在同学中誇耀他的生父,脫“生伯真吃香,跟他有吃有用,人人怕他!”这就是構成他屢犯錯誤最初的根源。
