有孔虫壳体既是大洋沉积物的重要组成部分,又是海洋沉积环境的灵敏标志。在海洋地质工作中,无论是海底地层年代、古气候、古海洋学、洋底扩张还是碳酸盐溶解旋回的研究,都需要依靠有孔虫分析的成果。近二十年来,我国对于陆架海区的有孔虫区系和分布规律,已经进行了不少工作,然而对大洋有孔虫的研究却未进行。国家海洋局于1978年在太平洋中部海域进行海洋调查,取得了许多洋底沉积样品,为研究太平洋有孔虫提供了丰富的材料。
The foraminifera shell is not only an important part of ocean sediments, but also a sensitive indicator of marine sedimentary environment. In the work of marine geology, whether it is the age of seabed strata, paleoclimate, paleoceanography, ocean floor expansion or carbonate dissolution cycle, all rely on the results of foraminiferal analysis. In the recent two decades, a great deal of work has been done on the fauna and distribution of foraminifera in the continental shelf. However, the study on foraminifera in the ocean has not been carried out. In 1978, the State Oceanic Administration conducted an ocean survey in the central Pacific Ocean. Many ocean floor sediment samples were obtained, providing abundant materials for the study of Pacific foraminifera.
