无产阶级文化大革命以来,我国广西壮族自治区、云南省林业技科工作者在毛主席革命路线指引下,深入群众,深入林区,对我国珍贵树种进行调查研究,在当地林业局、林场和贫下中农的密切配合下,先后在广西和云南发现了两个属于龙脑香科柳安属(Parashorea)的稀有珍贵阔叶树种——广西柳安和望天树。这不仅对研究我国热带、亚热带植物区系有着很大价值,而且对发展我国林业生产也非常重要。过去我国曾从国外进口柳安木材。现在我国发现了这种珍贵的树种资源,这在政治和经济方面都有其重要意义。
