当今,尽管象液晶和等离子显示等各种显示器已经商品化,但对高分辨率电视除CRT外,还没有研制出实用的显示器。CRT 显示可分为两类,电子直视模式和投影模式。这两种高分辨率显示器主要都为工业和展览会使用开发。通常电子直视式CRT 显示器具有极佳的图象质量,但它所能做大尺寸的程度是有限的。在最近的日本科学展览会上,展出一个40英寸CRT 显示器,但无论从亮度还是重量都不够实用化。较大尺寸的常规电视变得愈来愈普及,在大于40英寸的显示器中,投影CRT 占着主导地位,对于高分辨率CRT 显示器,将开发电子射束和投影型两种。
Today, despite the commercialization of various displays such as liquid crystal and plasma displays, no practical display has yet been developed for high resolution TVs in addition to CRTs. CRT display can be divided into two categories, electronic direct vision mode and projection mode. Both of these high-resolution displays are primarily developed for industrial and exhibition use. In general, the electronic direct-view CRT display has excellent image quality, but the extent to which it can be made large is limited. At the recent Japan Science Fair, a 40-inch CRT monitor was on display, but neither was practical enough in terms of brightness or weight. Conventional TVs of larger sizes have become more and more popular, with projection CRTs dominating displays larger than 40 inches and electron beam and projection types being developed for high resolution CRT displays.
