Luis Erdrich combines the Christian elements of the West with native American religious culture in his novels, identifying heterogeneous literary identities in religious structures. Religious-level hybrid techniques in texts are based on indigenous traditions. They are not only a simple mixture of perspectives and languages, they also create a mix of expressions in the structure. While creating their own meanings, religious heterogeneity is also encouraged Resistance and Subversion of Whites’ Religious Hegemony. In this way, Erdrich’s novel creates a novel religious discourse, which in turn creates a contemporary American native text with subjective self-sufficiency. However, Erdek’s method is not limited to the renaissance. The subversion of colonial consciousness and biblical texts and the application of the heterogeneity of Western Catholicism and traditional Indian mythology are the main characteristics of the mixed mode of Erdek’s religion. Similar to Indians’ cultural efforts to build folk religions, the literary mix in Erdrich’s work reinforces the emotional and spiritual connection between Indians.
