爱米莉·狄金森(1830—1886)十九世纪美国女诗人。十九世纪最富传奇性、杰出的天才,又是最孤独羞涩、深居简出的女诗人。在她所创造的诗歌中,常可发现不为人所理解的多层意义与智慧。继青少年时代在阿默斯特学院和一个神学院学习之后,从二十几岁开始弃绝社交,闭门不出。她一生留下诗作一千八百余首以及大量的私人信件。诗歌在她生前只发表过十多首,其余的都在她死后才出版并为世人所知。作品的广泛传播奠定了狄金森在美国诗坛

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) 19th Century American Woman Poet. The nineteenth century the most legendary, outstanding genius, but also the most lonely and shy, a simple woman poet. Among the poems she creates, one can often find unreadable layers of meaning and wisdom. Following teenagehood studying at Amherst College and a seminary, social rejection started in the twenties and closed the door. She has left more than 1,800 poems and lots of personal letters in her life. Only a dozen of poems were published before her death, and the rest were published after the death of her and known to the world.
