On April 22, 2011, chemists at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign announced the development of a nickel-based homogeneous catalyst that is expected to more effectively support the production of fuel and chemical raw materials from biomass and to improve coal liquefaction. These results have been published in “Science” magazine.
