时值新中国60华诞之际,伴随着共和国成长的脚步,中国外文局也迎来了60岁生日。中共中央政治局常委李长春和中央政治局委员、书记处书记、中宣部部长刘云山致信外文局表示祝贺。贺信指出,60年来,在党中央的正确领导下,中国外文局始终围绕党和国家对外工作大局,以多种文字通过书、刊、网等形式向世界介绍中国,为增进中外了解与友谊,促进交流与合作做出了重要贡献。中央对外宣传办公室、国务院新闻办公室主任王晨在9月4日中国外文局成立60周年纪念大会上作了重要讲话(全文另发)。中国外文局局长周明伟表示,外文局要站在新的历史起点上,借鉴已有的成功经验,深刻洞察时代的发展变化,准确把握当前的形势和任务,按照以胡锦涛为总书记的党中央关于大力提高国际传播能力的总体部署和要求,深入贯彻落实中央领导同志在贺信中提出的要求,解放思想,更新观念,把外文局各项事业推向一个新的发展阶段。
