The aluminum alloy tubes are used in a aluminum space frame (ASF) in order to save weight of automobiles.The shock absorption of the ASF body depends on the body design and plastic deformation behavior of the aluminum alloy tubes and the joint parts constructed the ASF bodies.In this paper,we investigated the relations between shock absorption and plastic buckling mode received a axial impact load for thin walled rectangular tubes.
