西炮台遗址位于东经122°9′54″,北纬40°39′54″,辽河入海口的左岸,渤海的东岸,是一座近代海防军事遗址。西炮台原名营口炮台,由于坐落在辽宁省营口市市区的西端,被习惯称为西炮台。西炮台遗址1963年被辽宁省委公布为第一批省级文物保护单位。2006年被国务院公布为第六批全国重点文物保护单位。西炮台遗址占地8.5公顷,目前整个遗址建筑遗存有炮台三座、水塘两处、850延长米的夯土围墙、周长约1000米的护台濠。现有的三座营门、三栋清兵营和营门外石拱桥均系后来复建。关于西
