50岁的王玉玺自小受家庭影响与“龙”结缘。1980年调入文化部门从事群众文化工作以来,在中国龙狮舞艺术的研究、发展等方面成绩突出,并且创造了舞龙的《吉尼斯世界纪录》,被同行和专家们誉为“中国龙王”。早在20世纪七、八十年代王玉玺就深入农村和基层,对濒临绝迹的民间艺术进行抢救性的搜集和整理,发掘了大量的传统民间艺术活动,整理出几十万字的详实资料及近千张照片和图片。在大量吸取民族民间艺术精华的基础上,王玉玺开始了民间舞蹈的设计、创作、编排和辅导工作。其创作、编舞、辅导、导演的民间舞蹈获得了极大的成功。
