崇猪爱猪的民族巴布亚新几内亚是1975年独立的南太平洋国家,有300多万人口,其中60%以上至今仍过着自给自足的生活。他们的大多数人信奉拜物教,崇拜各种动物植物。巴布亚新几内亚人民崇猪爱猪,在当今世界上大概是首屈一指了。有的部族的酋长在自己的鼻子上挖了一个大洞,把野猪(他们视野猪为家猪的祖先)的爪尖嵌进去,既作为权威的象征,又表示对猪的崇敬。有的酋长把野猪的睾丸串起来,戴在手腕上,以表明他的信仰和表示力量。有的部族人把用木炭和猪油制作的化妆墨浓抹的脸上,借以表现他具有不辱祖先的勇武。
Pig-loving people Papua New Guinea is an independent South Pacific country in 1975. It has a population of more than 3 million, of which more than 60% still live in a self-sufficient life. Most of them believe in fetishism and worship various animal plants. The people of Papua New Guinea love pigs and they are probably second to none in today’s world. Some tribal chiefs dug a big hole in their noses, embedding the claws of wild boars (the pigs whose ancestors were the ancestors of their home pigs) into their hands, both as a symbol of authority and as an expression of respect for the pigs. Some chiefs strung the wild boar’s testicles and wore it on the wrist to show his faith and power. Some tribal people put on the face of makeup ink made with charcoal and lard to show that he had brave humiliation.
