黎炳光原名黎家文,海南省琼海县人。13岁时只身飘泊到马来亚谋生,在爱国侨领陈嘉庚开办的一家工厂做勤杂工。他边打工边上当地的乐群夜校读书识字,并参加了该校的赤色工会组织——洋务工会。1927年,黎炳光加入马共。1929年他被马来西亚当局驱逐出境,回到海南家乡,与马共失去联系。1931年12月底,由于叛徒出卖,他不幸被捕入狱,国民党地方当局迫于找不到黎有政治嫌疑的证据,把他关押两个月后,由其岳父担保释放。 1932年 12月,黎炳光第3次离乡,辗转香港、厦门等地,经多方打听,终于与香港党组织取得联
Li Bingguang, formerly known as Li Jiawen, Qionghai County, Hainan Province. At the age of 13, he wandered alone in Malaya to make a living and worked as a handyman at a factory run by Tan Kah Kee, patriotic overseas Chinese. While working, he read and wrote literary works at the local Lok Khong night school while attending the school’s red trade union organization, the Westernization Trade Union. In 1927, Li Bingguang joined the CPM. He was deported by Malaysian authorities in 1929, returned to his hometown of Hainan and lost contact with the communists. At the end of December 1931, he was unfortunately detained for being trafficked by the traitors, and after being detained for two months by the Kuomintang local authorities for proof that there was no political suspicion, the KMT local authorities released him for sponsorship from his father-in-law. December 1932, Li Bingguang third leave home, removed to Hong Kong, Xiamen and other places, after much inquiry, and finally get together with the Hong Kong party organizations
