Antibiotic resistance is one of the most difficult health problems in the 21st century. Scientists have listed it with climate change as a scientific problem in the new century. The 2014 report states that the proliferation of antibiotic resistance will result in 300 million deaths by 2050. Today, Carolyn Michael from Sydney Institute of Technology in Australia is trying to find new solutions. Bacteria, as well as other microbes, have a short life cycle and have a range of intercellular delivery of genetic material. This means that once we develop a bacteriostasis program, the bacteria will adapt and evolve quickly, and the evolved new genes will be rapidly transmitted laterally and intergenerationally.
