A novel aromatic diamine, 1, 2-dihydro-2-(4-aminophenyl)-4-[3-methoxy-4-(4-amino-phenoxy)]-2, 3-phthalazin-1-one (OO-DA) containing aza heterocyclic structure was synthesized from the bisphenol-like monomer in two steps and used for preparing new aromatic polyamides with high inherent viscosity of 0.89-1.03 dL.g-1. The structures of diamine and polymers obtained were confirmed by MS, FT-IR, WAXD and 1H-NMR. The synthesized polymers exhibited high glass transition temperature in the range of 281-307 ℃ and good solubility in polar solvents.
