美国剧作家爱德华.阿尔比是美国荒诞派戏剧的杰出代表,其作品多反映人生的荒诞主题。阿尔比首部剧作《动物园的故事》成功上演,奠定了阿尔比作为荒诞派剧作家的身份,多数评论旨在探讨阿尔比剧作中的荒诞派特征以及尤内斯库、热内等欧洲荒诞派剧作家对阿尔比的影响。本文通过分析阿尔比的代表作《动物园的故事》,重点探讨阿尔比在语言方面的独创性。通过分析语言中多表现出来的荒诞本性,从而体现了剧作家在荒诞主题这一大趋势下的与众不同。
American playwright Edward Albi is an outstanding representative of American absurd drama, his works reflect the absurd theme of life. Albi’s first play “The Story of a Zoo” was staged successfully, laying the identity of Albi as an absurd playwright. Most of the comments aim to explore the absurdist features of the Albi drama and the absurd European absurdity such as Younescu, Influence of School Playwrights on Albi. By analyzing Albi’s masterpiece The Zoo Story, this article focuses on Albi’s ingenuity in language. By analyzing the absurdity of nature manifested in the language, we can see that the dramatist is different under the general trend of absurdity.
