In hybrid and electric vehicle powertrains, the ambient temperature outside the power inverter fluctuates considerably. The resulting non-uniform temperature distribution limits the output power of the power converter and shortens its useful life. Therefore, steps must be taken to ensure that the power modules used in hybrid and electric vehicles meet the typical application requirements, such as being able to withstand over 3 million active thermal cycles. For the future of hybrid and electric vehicles, the reliability of semiconductor technology is an important factor in measuring its quality. This is evidenced by the powertrain of the substrateless sintered modules in electric vehicles and utility vehicles, as well as in racing cars.
