The old houses in small and medium-sized cities, especially those built before the 1950s, were mostly two- or three-story brick-concrete structures with ample spacing. Adding layers to tap potential is one of the most important measures to solve the housing difficulties that are the most economical and effective. The first thing encountered in the design of the overlay is whether the foundation can withstand it. However, in the small and medium-sized cities, surveying and surveying of foundations is not as convenient as in big cities. It not only has a long period, but also affects the accuracy of data and parameters provided by the sampling, transfer, and testing processes. The method described in this article was developed by the author after more than 20 years of exploration and engineering practice.
