Fifty-two children undergoing ASA stage I elective plastic surgery undergoing elective plastic surgery were divided into three groups according to age: group I was infants from 3 months to 1 year old (n = 39); group II infants (n = 41) Group 3 to 12-year-old children (n = 72). Each group of children were randomly divided into A subgroup and B subgroup. SpO2, blood pressure, heart rate and PETCO2 were monitored. Pre-oxygen time is 2min. In the non-ventilated phase after induction of anesthesia, subgroups A and B were given oxygen when SpO2 decreased to 90% and 95%, respectively. The results confirmed that the time required for ventilatory reduction in children with SpO2 to 95% and 90% was significantly different among the three groups. After oxygen administration, SpO2 in all children in the subgroup A dropped below 90%, whereas in the subgroup B only 2 (2.7%) children had SpO2 levels below 90%. The lowest value of SpO2 after oxygen administration was significantly different between the three groups and between the A subgroup and the B subgroup of each group. Therefore, children without ventilatory interval SpO2 safety threshold should be established at 95%. Linear regression analysis found that the time required for SpO2 to decrease to 95% during non-ventilated periods was significantly associated with pediatric age, weight, and height.
