从事卫拉特史研究的学者都知道,瓦刺史是被大家视为畏途的不易攻克的难题。这不仅是因为它资料少而分散,而且各种史籍之间歧异甚多。人名、地名、年代等的分歧比比皆是。即便是基本史实,蒙汉史籍之间,蒙文史籍如《蒙古源流》与《黄金史纲》之间,汉文史籍如《明实录》与《明史》之间,甚至《明史》的“本纪”与“列传”之间,记载也多(?)牾。有人比之为一团乱麻,不为过份。要想从中理出头绪,洵非易事。所以当我们拿到白翠琴同志的新著《瓦刺史》(吉林教育出版社,1991年版)之后,以
