The 7th International Seminar on Evolutionary Linguistics (ICEL-7) was held at Tianjin Nankai University from June 12 to June 14, 2015. A total of 87 theses were received at the conference; nearly 100 scholars from the United States, France, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Singapore and all over China, including Hong Kong and Taiwan, attended the event. This is the second time that this interdisciplinary conference is held in Nankai University. Professor Shi Feng Nankai University presided over the opening ceremony. Renowned linguist Wang Shiyuan, the president of Taiwan’s United University, Tsang Chih-lang,
