十四大报告的《决议》指出:“将我国经济体制改革的目标,确定为社会主义市场经济,是有中国特色社会主义理论的丰富和发展。”这里揭示了两个内在联系:第一,邓小平建设有中国特色社会主义理论与社会主义市场经济理论在全党指导思想上的确立,两个“确立”完全一致,后者是前者的重要组成部分;第二,建立社会主义市场经济是社会主义经济理论的重大突破,它为“中国特色”注入了更新更大的活力。
