范仲淹在浙江桐庐时,主持修建了“严先生祠堂”,用以纪念汉光武帝刘秀的朋友严光。严光,字子陵,少时与刘秀同学,刘秀后来当了皇帝,严光不仅没有去求这位老明友,反而改变姓名,隐居不见,披羊裘钓于泽中。刘秀思念他,经过一番查访,终于找到这位老朋友,并封给他高官,但严光坚决不受,归隐富春山,耕钓以终其身,其高风亮节,千古传诵。
