先秦學術,泛言百家,而可觀者九流,越秦而下者,則儒、道、法、陰陽,四家而已。四家之中,陰陽一説,篡附二家。在儒,衍爲讖緯之説,在道,流爲神仙之術,皆轉入神秘一途,不足以言學術。法家則純爲帝王佐治之工具,藏於内,則爲冷智機心,用於外,則爲暴君酷吏,又斥“博習辨智”爲“不耕耨”(《韓非子·八説》),使舉國人民“順上之爲,從主之法,虚心以待令,而無是非也,故有口不以私言,有目不以私
