If a well-established and flexible basic education system is established, potential faculty members may emerge from a broad social context and form a full-time post-school education. In developed countries, such education usually takes place in institutions of higher learning. In the United States, all teachers who want to be teachers must complete four-year degree programs; in the Democratic Republic of Germany, they complete the four-year higher education program after completing their normal schooling.
