TSP Trostre is the first (and only) steel company certified by Carbon Trust to fulfill its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. Carbon Trust is an independent, not-for-profit organization established by the British government to support and monitor CO2 mitigation and to certify carbon trust standards for companies that have achieved significant results in reducing their CO2 footprint. Certified businesses can promote their carbon reduction outcomes and use carbon trust tags, which resemble the best practices on their product and customer folders “kite logo.” The implementation of this certification has enabled TSP Trostre to achieve a 2.5% CO2 reduction per ton of product for consecutive years since 2006 and, together with other Tata companies, is striving to achieve a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2013/2014 The goal, which means that companies currently have two “live” goals.
