OBJECTIVE: To carry out targeted birth defect interventions and provide evidences for establishing effective interventions and reducing birth defects at the grassroots level. Methods: The levels of hepatitis B virus, trace elements calcium, copper, iron and zinc, and toxoplasma gondii and rubella virus were examined in 3241 pregnant women respectively. Prenatal diagnosis was performed on the fetus with a three-dimensional color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic apparatus. Results: 188 cases of hepatitis B virus carriers and large and small Sanyang were screened out, accounting for 6.31%. The underitable serum levels of trace elements in pregnant women ranged from 237 to 681 (7.31% to 21.01%). Toxoplasma gondii and rubella virus infections 0.40% and 0.34% respectively. Fetal head, limbs and abdomen deformities were found in 14 cases (0.60%) by three-dimensional ultrasonography. Conclusion: Targeted screening for birth defects and pregnancy intervention can prevent and reduce the incidence of birth defects.
