走出沙蒙尼山谷的第一个山谷就是塞伏兹山谷。如果白雪从附近的山峰上消失,如果草地重新被绿色覆盖,如果夕阳的金光照亮环抱着它的山石,这个山谷是令人赏心悦目的,虽然它空旷荒凉。那里零零落落的有几座小木屋,其中一个是小旅店,我于6月12日晚上来到这里。有多种方式可以走出这个山谷。有些人走大路,这是最简便的。可是在那个时候,我年轻,何况又是云游四方的人,我对这种乏味的方式颇不以为然。一个以旅游为乐的人需要的是奇峰险隘,喜欢冒险和意外,为什么?本性使然。犹如一头驴,从磨坊到烤炉,不可能想象除了最短、最平、最好的路之外还有其它路可走;一个旅行家,从塞伏兹到日内瓦,不可能想象不走那条最长、最为艰险和最不平坦的路。推销员,奶酪商,富翁,老人,和驴堪称物以类聚,而文人,艺术家,英国人,我,和旅行家引为同调。
The first valley out of the Chamonix valley is the Sevilla Valley.
