淄博是国务院批准的山东半岛经济开放区城市和山东省有地方立法权的三个城市之一。1992年跨入中国综合实力50强城市行列，是山东乃至全国的重要工业基地和石油化工、医药、纺织生产基地，中国陶瓷名城和重要的建材产区。淄博是中国重要的原材料工业生产基地，是山东省新材料开发和产业化基地，在全市236家高新技术企业中，涉及新材料企业125家，2003年新材料类高新技术产品产值174亿元，占全市高新技术产品产值的83.4%。2004年前三季度，淄博市的21家新材料基地骨干企业在工业总产值、工业增加值、利税总额、出口交货值方面取得骄人的成绩。2004年9月召开的中国(淄博)国际新材料技术论坛，为山东省和淄博市新材料产业化的发展，构建了一个国际科技合作与交流平台，加快了产业化发展的步伐。淄博，已成为山东省经济发展的“亮点”；淄博，正成为中国新材料的“硅谷”……
Zibo is one of the three cities approved by the State Council in the economic zone in Shandong Peninsula and in Shandong Province. 1992 into the ranks of China’s top 50 cities in comprehensive strength, Shandong and the country’s major industrial base and petrochemical, pharmaceutical, textile production base, China’s ceramic city and an important building materials production areas. Zibo is an important raw material industrial production base in China and a base for new material development and industrialization in Shandong Province. Among 236 high-tech enterprises in the city, 125 involve new material enterprises. In 2003, output value of high-tech new material products reached 17.4 billion yuan, Accounting for 83.4% of the city’s high-tech product output value. In the first three quarters of 2004, key enterprises of 21 new material bases in Zibo City achieved remarkable results in the total industrial output value, industrial added value, total profits and taxes, and export delivery value. The China (Zibo) International New Material Technology Forum held in September 2004 set up an international platform for scientific and technological cooperation and exchange for the development of industrialization of new materials in Shandong and Zibo, and accelerated the pace of industrialization. Zibo, Shandong Province has become the economic development of the “bright spot”; Zibo, is becoming China’s new material “Silicon Valley” ......
