Summary: Due to the sluggish international financial markets, there was sluggish financial flows in the second quarter of 1994. Despite the marked increase in the issuance of European medium-term bonds, the total amount of fund-raising in the form of bank loans and bonds has drastically decreased. According to the report of the Bank for International Settlements, the total financing of international capital markets was 46.4 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 14.5 billion U.S. dollars from the first quarter, a decrease of 75.88%, and a decrease of 51.46% over the same period of last year. Under the influence of the turmoil in the international financial markets, investors transferred their funds to the domestic financial markets, so the domestic and foreign currency claims in the second quarter decreased by 41 billion U.S. dollars and the overseas claims decreased by 37.8 billion U.S. dollars.
