1988年开始,我们试图通过莲属种间杂交,达到增加荷花品种花色之目的。经5年多的努力,我们选用“美国黄莲”(Nelumbo penta-petala)作母本,用中国莲(Nelumbo nucipera)的优良品种“玉楼台”作父本,在其杂交的后代中,筛选出了花色黄橙、重瓣的品种“霸王袍”。该品种1993年在中国荷花研究中心通过技术鉴定,1994年在全国第八届荷花展览中获优秀新品种特等奖。适宜盆植或池植,长势健壮,花色鲜丽。
Beginning in 1988, we attempted to increase the color of lotus varieties through crossbreed hybrids.
