OBJECTIVE: To compare the expression of ICAM-1, VCAM-1 and ELAM-1 on skin leukocyte fragmentation and lymphocytic vasculitis and their significance. Methods: Immuno-grade method was used to study the expression of adhesion molecules in two types of vasculitis. Results: The expression of ICAM-1 in keratinocytes was significantly higher in lymphocytic vasculitis (85.71%) than that in leukopenia (11.11%) (p <0.0001). The expression of ICAM-1, VCAM-1 and ELAM-1 was no difference between the two types of vasculitis vascular endothelial cells (P values were 1,0.0680.46). Conclusion: Both leukocyte fragmentation and lymphocytic vasculitis upregulate the expression of adhesion molecules. The difference in the expression rates of the two vasculitic adhesion molecules reflects the differences in the release of local cytokines, which is of great importance for revealing the pathogenesis of vasculitis.
