ATM简直是网络技术中的暴发户。关于ATM的铺天盖地的宣传给人一种错觉,仿佛ATM很快就将无处不在。然而事实上,ATM离用户应考虑购买的地步尚远。 我们评析基于ATM的产品时,应该从两方面看。首先要注意到现有大量的数据网络,采用ATM技术能使之更快;其次才是借助ATM实现多媒体梦想——以管道方式传输数据、声音和视频信号,提供服务等级(quality-of-Service)功能和按需分配带宽。
ATM is simply an upstart in network technology. The overwhelming propaganda about ATM gives the illusion that ATM will soon be ubiquitous.
