This article seeks to thoroughly reflect on the collective context of local music creation. The main content of the article is from The Community of Practices in Music (2016), which uses case studies from Ireland as a means of gaining an in-depth examination of the complexities of specific musical communities. Therefore, the discussion in this article will be rooted in the micro “music practice ” of sharing, learning, approving and belonging to music. The framework of a “community of practices” offers tremendous potential for the conceptualization, understanding and analysis of the development of the music community. The discussion in this article takes this framework as a way of examining the “community of music” and the creation of collective music. Through the discussion of the three “communities of practice of music,” a series of meaningful relationships, problems and topics are elucidated to enable people to gain a broader and deeper understanding of the “community of music”. The commonalities and differences between these three “worlds of music” clarify some of the controversial topics: how, why, and where people learn music together.
