In the course of my studies of the ophiurans of southern China,I found a very strikingnew species of the genus Amphilimna and named it A.polyacantha sp.nov.the descriptionof which is given below.At the same time I have dissected several specimens of A.polya-cantha sp.nov.and A.multispina(Koehler)at my disposal for comparison.After detailedexamination of the internal structure of both species and by referring to the morphologyof the juveniles,I am convinced that A.multispina Koehler is neither an ophiacanthid noran amphiurid but an ophiurid,by which reason a new genus,Sinophiura,is erected toaccommodate it.
